I really need to watch this...

I really need to check this film out (it is on Netflix Instant Play) as people have already told me to watch the French thriller Tell No One and now Miramax and Focus are teaming together to make an English language remake, but this news comes as the film is still in the early stages and without a director, writer or cast.

The original starred Kristin Scott-Thomas and François Berléand and carries the tagline "8 years ago, Alex's wife was murdered. Today… She e-mailed him." The film is based on the Harlan Coben novel and tells the story of pediatrician Alexandre Beck (François Cluzet) who still grieves the murder of his beloved wife, Margot (Marie-Josée Croze), eight years earlier. When two bodies are uncovered near where Margot's body was found, the police reopen the case and Alex becomes a suspect again. The mystery deepens when Alex receives an anonymous e-mail with a link to a video clip that seems to suggest Margot is somehow still alive and a message to "tell no one."

Variety reports that while there are no principals attached they are still aiming for a start date of spring 2010. Miramax will handle domestic distribution with Focus handling international rights.

The trailer for the original is attached.

    This movie was incredible! Imagine if Guy Ritchie and David Fincher got together to make a film….BINGO!

    I just saw this movie yesterday, a one third action one third drama one third mystery flick. It was very entertaining and very sad. I could see this becoming a pretty decent remake if they get a good crew behind it.

  3. I can't wait. Harlan Coben writes some fantastic stories. If they ever do any movies with his Myron Bolitar character, they'll be making a series of them because people will love the characters that much.

    @James NomadRip:

    I completely agree, Coben's stories are so well written and there is such great character development, I am extremely surprised there hasn't been a movie made yet (or at least a TV series).

    An amazing film. I got to watch it on the big screen… for free, on my college campus. Great action sequences, great mystery, great characters.

    A superb thriller which was surprisingly moving and very satisfying. I hope they get a great crew to do justice to it.
