'Tekken' Vid Getting Film Adaptation
A director is named and you don't know him
I debated on whether or not to write this article, primarily because – Who the hell is Dwight Little?
The answer to the question is that he is the fella that is going to be helming the videogame adaptation Tekken and turn it into yet the latest disappointing videogame adaptation in a long string of them.
If, like me, the name Dwight Little means absolutely nothing don't worry; the most recognizeable film title he has directed would be Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid. He has helmed a vast amount of recognizeable television shows, but who gives a flying…
As for Tekkken, the script was penned by Alan McElroy, whose scripting record should tell you what you are going to get. Let's see, there is Wrong Turn, The Marine and what I believe is RottenTomatoes worst rated movie of all time Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever. Not a good track record if you ask me.
Little told Variety, "The film plays out as a science fiction story set in the near future, about a rebel who rises up against the Tekken Corp. to seize freedom for his people… It's a gladiator story, but the videogame has a complicated enough storyline that it provides the template for a martial arts spectacular."
I have never played the game, but it appeared to me like it was nothing more than an advanced "Street Fighter", which sucked in cinemas if you will remember.
The film will be financed by Crystal Sky Pictures and begins production Feb. 4 in Shreveport, La.
