Teaser Trailer for Matthew Vaughn's 'Kick-Ass'
Too bad it doesn't live up to its name
It appears another soon-to-be Internet sensation is already WAY over my head as the teaser trailer for Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass arrives a little earlier than expected.
The film is based on the ultraviolent comic by Mark Millar and follows Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a high school dweeb who attempts to reinvent himself as a real-world costumed superhero named Kick-Ass who seems doomed to failure because he's not athletic or coordinated until he runs into real bad guys with real weapons.
Matthew Vaughn of Layer Cake and Stardust fame directed the picture, which Lionsgate will release on April 16, 2010.
Check out the trailer below and eight images from the film, including five new posters, can be found right here.

not that great looking, but ive heard good things
Consider me unimpressed. I liked the opening bit of it with the (less than) "superhero" jumping off the building, but after that it turned rather ho hum. I'm still interested in it and will see it, but I think it's going to end up being mostly media hype that fails to live up to the fanboy expectations.
Now excuse me while I go to watch a trailer that kicks significantly more ass, Clash of the Titans, again.
Don't really know what to think about that. Doesn't look as bad as it could have been…
Still can't see myself shelling out the bucks to see it.
I'm gonna say what I said when the Avatar teaser came out in August: Wait for the theatrical trailer! After watching the teaser, everyone kept telling me how lame Avatar looked. Then the theatrical trailer came out, and everyone loved it. I'll reserve my judgment on Kick-Ass until we see a theatrical trailer.
I might have missed something that you guys caught on to, but I thought it looked pretty awesome.
Yeah, I'm feeling this whole "Watchmen" vibe, where the fan boy hype seems to automatically set the film up for failure, but either way, this just looks like…fun.
I will refrain to use the movie's title to describe the movie however.
@Vince: Yeah, I don't why some people are hating on it. It obviously can't show that much since its essentially a less-than-two-minute PG-rated teaser of an incredibly violent R-rated movie. At any rate, I'll be waiting with anticipation for the theatrical and Red Band trailers.
Hey guys, I went to Comic Con and sat through the Kick-Ass panel and yes, this trailer is underwhelming, but that is because this is a HARD R rated film. You can't show any of the good stuff in the trailer. Believe me, once you see the movie, you will love it. It is easily one of my most anticipated films of next year.
People with no powers who dress up in silly costumes with silly names and fight crime was pretty much the premise of "Mystery Men", wasn't it? Only where that one took it's inspiration from the Batman movies of the 90's, this one seems to be set in the more realistic world of the "Spider-man" and "Dark Knight" flicks of this decade… although this is apparently a very violent film from what others are saying.
It looks like it could be fun though.
Not interested in the last half of the trailer, but that first minute WAS kick-ass!
The stuff shown at Comic-Con was enough to make any fanboy crap their pants in amazement. I can imagine that the green band trailers to this won't be very good due to the strong, graphic nature of the film. I imagine that if the Red-Band trailer shown at CC hits the web "officially", the anticipation will go up increasingly. This trailer was a tad bit weak, although the opening is still funny the 2nd time around (one of 4 clips shown at CC was just that). This movie is still my most anticipated for next year, but I wanna see more of what this movie is really made of.
btw
in the movie we see a dude get sliced in half
a guys arm torn off
head blown off by gunshot
its alot more violent than it seems
this doesn't seem so bad
The Hit-Girl footage at comic con was GREAT! The glass is half full on this one. The movie will deliver bigtime!
