First Trailer for 'Battle: Los Angeles' Invades
Hey look, something new, an alien invasion

One of the big films previewing at this year's San Diego Comic Con was Columbia's Battle: Los Angeles, but since that time little has been featured other than the two-second scene that debuted back in July. Now, Apple has debuted the first trailer giving us a full blown look at the action.
The film is directed by Jonathan Liebesman who directed Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning and is set to helm Wrath of the Titans (a.k.a. Clash of the Titans 2) and the cast he's culled together includes Aaron Eckhart, Michelle Rodriguez, Michael Pena, Bridget Moynahan, Ne-Yo, Taylor Handley, Joey King, Ramon Rodriguez and Cory Hardrict.
The film is yet another alien invasion movie, which probably explains why we are getting the trailer now with Skyline hitting theaters today as the studio attempts to capture the eyes of the same audience. The story revolves around a Marine staff sergeant (Eckhart) and his new platoon's battle against an alien invasion on the streets of Los Angeles. Michelle Rodriguez will play Crpl. Adriana Santos, a member of a radio battalion. Pena plays the father of a boy the Marines find along the way, and Moynahan plays a veterinarian. Ne-Yo plays a corporal in the platoon. Ramon Rodriguez, Handley and Hardrict are members of the platoon fighting the invading aliens. Cass, Gould and King are kids trapped in a community center.
Eckhart commented on the film from Comic Con referring to it as "a huge, action film." He added saying, "The Dark Knight was great preparation. We made an urban combat alien movie that has never been seen before."
Columbia has set a March 11, 2011 release date. Check out the trailer directly below and let us know what you think in the comments. The weirdest part for me is the fact it never reveals the title of the film… Why would you keep that hidden?

that actually looks pretty cool
The music in the trailer is very effective.
But we all know we'll win in the end from some dumb loop hole.
Incredibly effective trailer. I got chills. Kudos to whoever put it together.
The footage looks rather impressive too. If it ends up a violent, epic, non-stop action thrill ride like Black Hawk Down, then we're in for a treat. Just, please, no forced drama and cheap emotional tricks.
You can never have too many alien invasion movies. Plus, this one looks very cool – it seems to have a more gritty feel to it. And Jonathan Liebesman is South African – yay!
Maybe they are keeping the name hidden because of that successful Cloverfield teaser where they only showed bits of destruction. However, it doesn't seem to work as well here.
Wow this looks very cool IMO.
Excellent score, does anyone know what it's titled and where you can get it?
The song is "The Sun's Gone Dim And The Sky's Turned Black" by Johann Johannsson off of his IBM 1401 album. Great album to buy if you like this track.
This is really f'in legit looking… Unlike "Skyline"…
I agree with you guys on the music, very cool. I was expecting guns blazing & explosions all around but this was a nice surprise. I would think that a lot of people already know the title? Besides there's the website at the end, the title's there in a way.
The title on the international trailer is:
World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles
I'll skip Skyline……….I'll hold off for this.
Definitley surprised by the quality of this trailer. May have ot chekc this one out.
Not surprised by the quality of this trailer. That is an absolutely breathtaking trailer. This is the first trailer that attract all the online crowd and geeks then the next trailer will be like a whole other movie that attracts the less well versed in film aspects and just like explosions. I'm predicting a big box-office on this one.
screw skyline this is gonna be epic
most likely the second blockbuster of 2011 (the first being the green hornet)
This will probably take advantage of the period when Alice in Wonderland was shown last year.
Personally, I think it's better if they release it in November, much like 2012, it has a lot of visual effects, which a lot of people internationally like. It could even gross $600M overseas.!
i agree with everyone in stating that that is a well put together and effective trailer.
'Battle: Los Angeles' sounds much better (albeit less descriptive) as a title than 'World Invasion: Battle LA' (which is the title overseas).
Hope they get it right with this one because skyline is horrible.
Michelle Rodriguez kinda ruined this for me
I'm looking forward to this big time.
The music is fantastic.
Reminds me a tad of District 9 (in every good way possible).
I have to admit, the trailer makes this look very good. Obviously it's impossible to judge a film's worth on two minutes of action highlights (Terminator Salvation comes to mind; amazing trailer, crap movie) but they seem to be making a gritty war movie by way of alien invasion and that's a potentially great combination. I'm interested.
How come everything happens in L.A.? I guess it's a lucky coincidence for Hollywood movies that it does, what with Hollywood being so handy 'n all.
Then again I might be wrong, wasn't "Escape from L.A." shot in Mogadishu?
