'Stopping Power' Has Re-Starting Power
Jan De Bont feature is back in biz with new money
Back in August a user by the name of 'edmc1' posted the following bit of news in regards to Jan De Bont's Stopping Power:
This film has been stopped in mid flight, on the day filming was supposed to start. Intermediafilms appears to be insolvent, this production was all ready to start shooting and the plug was pulled. Intermediafilms have left crew unpaid and some even left stranded in Germany having to take care of getting back to their home countries.
Following that post the trades went live with news that the $40 million production was halted three weeks ago after a key investor dropped out, but since then investor R Media Acquisitions LLC has stepped in and production is back in business. R Media is taking over IM Stopping Power, the company responsible for the project, and will assume all liabilities in connection with the pic's production.
The film stars John Cusack, Jason Isaacs and Melissa George, and Cusack plays a man who races to rescue his kidnapped daughter. Isaacs will play Cusack's nemesis, and George will portray Cusack's girlfriend.
