'Star Wars: Episode VII' Now Rumored to Include Luke, Leia, Han and Their Kids

Now that's a pretty gnarly threesome

While the Ewoks were dancing and Luke was looking at the ghost of his father, Obi Wan and Yoda did you ever stop to wonder what it would be like for the Jedi knight, his smuggler buddy and sister down the road? The Empire has fallen, blown to pieces by the rebels, and times are good. A sister has come to the terms with the fact Luke is her brother and she will settle for Han. Maybe we could go back to Jabba's lair and pick up a little of what he was smoking and keep this party going for another week or so.

Well, if rumors mean anything, you may be getting more Han, Luke and Leia as Roger Friedman at Showbiz411 reports not only Harrison Ford will reprise his role as Han Solo, but Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill will return as sister and brother, Luke and Leia for the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Wars: Episode VII.

Friedman also reports the story will pick up some time in the future, after the events of Return of the Jedi, Luke will be a lot older and the children of the three protagonists will be the stars.

This story matches up with what Dale Pollock, author of the unauthorized "Skywalking: The Life And Films Of George Lucas", told The Wrap last October, when he said the original vision for a 12-film saga included an older Luke, but whether or not the actual stories match up is unknown. Of course, there is no official word as yet.

In my mind this is the only way to do it. I think it would be a shame if they just skipped over Han, Leia and Luke. Would almost be a cop out, since the "main" Star Wars are supposed to be basically the Skywalker story...If they skipped too far ahead it would kill that, in my opinion.

Why not just report on these exciting bits of Star Wars news instead of making snarky comments about it? Your lack of faith is disturbing, Brad.

I think this is a great direction for Episode VII to take. Focusing on the offspring of the Han, Luke & Leia is a great idea. The Solos end up having three children: the twins, Jacen and Jaina and Anakin. Luke & Mara Jade (his Jedi Apprentice and former Dark Hand - if I'm remembering correctly - of the Emperor himself) have a son, Ben.

The story of these children is both tragic and fascinating. Anakin ends up dying in an attack defending his friends. However, nothing compares to the story arc of Jacen Solo. He ends up turning to the dark side, becoming the Sith Lord, Darth Caedus. Ultimately, with the help of Luke (living in exile with his son Ben - a former apprentice of Jacen's), Jaisan is forced to confront and eventually kill her older twin brother.

Sounds like exciting stuff to me. I hope they continue to develop the story along these lines.

    Thems the facts

Great news, it wouldn't have been the same for me if they didn't include the characters that made it work. I know you didn't want them Brad, and I'm sorry, but I hope they don't pay attention to people like you and these rumors are right.
