'Spider-Man 3' Has Four Villains?
When is more than one too much?
I am beginning to wonder if Spider-Man 3 is going to be the greatest superhero movie of all time or if it is going to be a big mistake. Based on the fact that it is Sam Raimi at the helm I am primarily optimistic that it is going to be good, especially considering the second one was so much better than the first and I don't see him getting to work on number three unless it was up to SM2 standards or better.
Why am I going off like this? Well, thanks to ComingSoon it was brought to my attention that IFMagazine, in an interview with ex-Marvel Studios CEO Avi Arad, revealed that there are four villains in Spider-Man 3… Yup, four. Here is how the conversation went:
iF: There are four villains this time, Venom, Sandman, and Green Goblin and when is the fourth going to be revealed?
ARAD: Right we have four villains. Pretty soon [we'll reveal the fourth villain] I believe. Maybe around Comic Con we'll reveal something and the madness will begin.
One of my problems with X-Men 3 was that it had too many characters and not enough time. However, thinking back, Raimi gave SM1 and SM2 just over 2 hours each, with that kind of time there may be enough time to give all four villains a satisfactory amount of screentime.
Spider-Man 3 hits theaters on May 4, 2007. If you haven't seen the set pics that have popped up online you can check some out here and here.
