Sony Denies Logan Lerman as Spider-Man Report

That's what I get for reporting an unsubstantiated rumor

Ugh, I feel as if I was duped into writing up a rumor, something I have tried to avoid for the last year or so, but when HitFix reported Logan Lerman was "almost 100% locked" into becoming the next Peter Parker in Sony's upcoming Untitled Spider Man Reboot I couldn't help myself. Unfortunately, now the studio is sending out a denial and Mike Fleming at Deadline has the rather emphatic report.

Not only does Sony say Logan Lerman will not be playing the role of Spider-Man, they are "sure that Lerman was 100% not going to be Spidey and that he is not on the list of candidates being seriously considered."

HitFix has since updated their article to say they stand by their source and their story, and I still wouldn't be surprised if Lerman ended up with the role, but until I hear a solid report and not a solid "almost 100% locked" story I will do my best to stay clear of the rumor-filled waters on this one.

  1. Maybe Sony have seen sense and scrapped a Spiderman reboot, or maybe I am just hoping.

well im not too disapointed either way, but it still gives a chance for my top 3! 1) Joseph Gordon Levitt, 2) Jesse Eisenberg, 3) anton yelchin

I have almost the same top 3 as Arjuna.

    1) Joseph Gordon Levitt
    2) Anton Yelchin
    3) Jesse Bradford

But as I haven't seen any films with Lerman (I don't remember him in 3:10 to Yuma as Bale, Crowe and Foster were all amazing) I can't really be against him as Spidey. But for the record I am not a fan of the re-boot idea. But who knows. Maybe Marc Webb makes an amazing film.

they better not pick him … ill be 100% not impressed and i will be 100% confident that this movie will go down in flames

Given how awful this whole premise sounds, hopefully talented, up and coming actors like Gordon-Levitt, Eisenberg, and Yelchin stay miles away from this.

  6. David Mikula

he is not spiderman. nooo wayyy

GOOD. Once again, Logan Lerman may be a good actor (I don't know, I haven't seen any of his movies), but he looks so completely opposite of what the role needs that to even consider him for Spider-man would be ridiculous.

  8. Arjuna

well if they were going after Gordon Levitt they better do it before Inception comes out because I think he is going to take it to another level in that movie and go up another tier in the acting world

Sony, I'm sure have seen the reviews of that Percy the Harry Potter clone movie. So if anything they should try someone new. Otherwise they can call back Toby Mcquire with an apology and a new script.
