So Happy I Have Never Played 'Guitar Hero'
If this doesn't prove South Park right...
Last night I finished watching the upcoming DVD release of South Park – The Complete Eleventh Season and the second to last episode titled "Guitar Queer-o" couldn't have been more appropriate for this morning as I have now seen a gentleman who was featured in New York Times as the most talented Guitar Hero player in existence. His name is Chris Chike and apparently he hit 1,191 notes on Dragon Force's "Through the Fire and Flames," Guitar Hero III's most difficult song, before missing a note. This apparently is quite the task and worthy of praise.
Chris is just about to turn 17 and I wonder if this will turn into the next documentary of people with no lives competing on a video game system for some sense of self worth. I am of course talking about The King of Kong a movie "South Park" also spoofed in the eleventh season with an episode called "More Crap" as Stan's father and Bono battled it out over who could take the biggest crap. I am sure you already see the metaphor between gamers and trying to figure out who is the best player of any one game.
Watch Chris play "Guitar Hero" below and you tell me if the above "South Park" video is relevant or not… When the third page of the "Times" article actually has a group of gamers trying to push something called the World Cyber Games and trying to call it a "mainstream sport" is when they lost truly lost me. After reading the article this Chris guy seems smart, but it sounds like his desire to play video games may actually crush his attempt to do something with his life. He's young, I know, but college is the next step, not "Guitar Hero IV".
