SNL's 'MacGruber' Movie Actually Happening
Unfunny sketch set to make likely unfunny movie
Back in March we learned New Line Cinema was moving forward with early efforts to make a feature film based on the television series "MacGyver". As if that wasn't stupid enough, last night on the "Jimmy Fallon Show" Will Forte told the late night host a feature film adaptation of his insanely awful "Saturday Night Live" skit "MacGruber" was actually going to become a movie and plans were already underway to shoot in Albuquerque.
The potential for the film was first mentioned as an aside at The Hollywood Reporter, but last night Forte took it a step further saying, "John Solomon, Jorma Taccone and I just finished writing it. We're gonna make it in Albuquerque. It's me and Kirsten Wiig and cast to be determined."
I don't know about you, but this is one project I could do without and one I have no legitimate interest in seeing whatsoever. The "MacGruber" Pepsi commercial during the Super Bowl was rated 44th out of 50 at USA Today and I haven't heard from anyone that actually finds the "MacGyver" spoof funny in the slightest.

I actually think the skits are pretty decent. Bad idea for a movie, though.
So now you know one, Brad!
ewwwwww
This is probably the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of, but I'd be lying if I said that I won't go see this. It's for some reason one of my favorite SNL sketches. This movie's going to be awful, and I'll love it just for that reason.
hey pay, just report the news. we don't need your opinions. if you want, add your opinions at the end. i like will forte and think his comedy will do decent.
@impartiality:
You do know that this is a blog that's run by Brad, right? That as the head of the blog, he can instill his opinions on whatever piece of news he reports on, right?
On the topic at hand…wow, it sounds horrible. I know that we've all heard this before, but honestly, stretching out this mildly amusing 5 minute sketch to feature length is a terrible idea.
So what will the plot synopsis be?
Every 5 minutes MacGruber blows himself up because he gets distracted by retelling a story? I guess since it will be a feature film they'll stretch it out to every 20 mins.
@Gophers Attack!: yeah i think it would b funny but what would it b about in the skits he just gets blown up alot
I'm still waiting on the sequel to Joe Dirt that David Spade announced on The Showbiz Show with David Spade, "Joe Dirt 2: Electric Dirt-a-loo" – LOL! As stupid as that sounds, I think I'd rather sit through that than a MacGruber movie.
But who knows, "A Night At The Roxbury" wasn't as bad as it was perceived to be upon release, and that movie was made from an SNL sketch where the characters said 1 or 2 words and shook their heads in a Quagmire-esque manner. Giggidy-Goo, indeed!!!
The Pepsuber was f'ing hilarious. Great skit, no idea how they'll make it into a profitable feature. I wouldn't spend 14 dollars to see it.
