Singleton to Direct Vin Diesel in 'The Wheelman'
So I guess this will be an unofficial 'Fast and Furious' sequel
Paramount Pictures has put together an interesting team for the videogame adaptation The Wheelman, based on the Ubisoft vidgame in which Vin Diesel serves as the main character and the game's producer.
Diesel is set to star in the feature with John Singleton being brought aboard to direct. I say it's interesting because Singleton directed the sequel to the first Fast and the Furious film while Diesel sat that one out. I guess they finally found a way to get together for a film with fast cars.
The story behind Wheelman will have Diesel playing an expert driver who comes out of retirement to protect a woman from his past. Sounds a little like Fast and Furious doesn't it? Only instead of getting revenge for a woman from his past he is protecting one.
The script was written by Rich Wilkes who penned the other Diesel starrer xXx back in 2002. The writing team of Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell did a rewrite.
There is no word on a start date.

doesnt mr deisel realise that it is possible to make a great action movie without completely relying on import cars, hot rods and fast bikes, i know its his selling point, but cmon its enough to make you throw up from all the xxx, f&f movies isnt enough?? i think he should ignore this BS and get some producers in line for his hannibal movie, and get the sequel to riddick on its way.
@ddurden33:
That movie synopsis sounds more like Gone in 60 Seconds, with a girl interchanged for the brother.
@ddurden33:
sorry wasnt meant to be a quote directed to you lol
seriously….i want Hannibal and I want the sequel to Riddick!!!! Lose the cars, and make some cool shit without the bullshit!
Spoiler alert!
Vin Diesel's character, if this film is directly based on the video game, is an undercover cop trying to take down drug cartels. So this is basically "The Fast and The Furious". Again. Except Vin is in Paul Walker's role.
Uh….I like all the "Fast and Furious" films; they're my guilty pleasures. So I have a feeling that if this film isn't completely inept, I'll enjoy it.
It'll probably be a decent movie, but I really wish he was doing Chronicles Of Riddick 3 and XXX3: Return Of Xander Cage first.Those are movies he should be doing. Even a Fast And The Furious 5 (hopefully continuing from the end of Toyko Drift) would be interesting.
