I don't get the hype over Depp. I like the fact that he's branching out with "Public Enemies" (Which I'm looking forward to a great deal) but I feel like his career is built on two types of people: "The quirky 'out there' guy" and "Keith Richards". The role he's up for in "Sin City" would be something different for him but I'm not sure he's the guy for that part.

Sorry for going off topic on that but Depp gets thrown around for EVERY role and it makes no sense to me.

As for Sin City 2, I have to believe someone out there wants this license. The first one made it's money back and plenty more and it represents a really cutting edge style in movies. I never liked the Weinstein's business plans (I'm STILL waiting for "The Road") so I'm happy to see them off the project. Hopefully a studio like Warner Brothers or Lionsgate, a place that gives it's artist real creative license, picks it up.

After pulling in 74 million at the box office you would think that they would want to hurry up and make the sequel. I can't think of any other logical reason they wouldn't want to make it except Rodriguez's strange fixation with one certain female as the desired character. (exp. Rodriguez's decision to make something like 5 movies with McGowan...) He wanted his Dame to Kill For and he didn't want to do it without her. Especially in the prime of her career. How selfish.

@Tyler C: Ah, I remember what you are talking about and even actually wrote about it back in 2006. However, I highly doubt that was the only reason since Jolie was never even officially attached.

The reason Sin City 2 wasn't made when they originally wanted was because Rodriguez wanted Jolie to play Ava Lord and since she was preggo at the time they decided to wait. They waited and waited and then the idea went away as Rodriguez and Miller moved on to other projects. Even Mickey Rourke got tired of planning his future around the hope of Sin City 2. So now Marv will most likely have to be recast so that Jolie can be in the movie. I would have been satisfied with a terrible Rose McGowan Ava if I knew Rourke was gonna bail. Rodriguez has so many other projects in the works that Miller is probably gonna have to step up and direct it himself. And being a Frank Miller fan I don't see that as a problem. (I somewhat enjoyed The Spirit and I've followed him as an author for a few years now) I fell in love with Sin City since I read the graphic novels and then the movie...WOW so having a sequel see the light of day is kind of a touchy subject to me.
