'Shrek 4' Has a Director
Man, they love this franchise
After $148 million for Spider-Man 3 this weekend box-office prognosticators are going to have a hell of a time figuring out what will happen with the two other major releases this May with Shrek the Third and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. However, it seems DreamWorks Animation has a hefty amount of faith in Shrek the Third as they are not taking any time in setting up the next film in the franchise. Yup, Shrek 4 is already getting started and Mike Mitchell is in negotiations to take over directorial duties.
Mitchell helmed Sky High, Surviving Christmas and Deuce Bigalow Male Gigolo.
No story details have been leaked but apparently a script by Tim Sullivan has been completed and Josh Klausner recently penned a rewrite, which will chronicle the continuing adventures of Shrek and his buddies. To say you didn't see this coming would be silly considering the first movie grossed $484.4 million worldwide, while the second one raked in $920.7 million. What the third film will do is still up in the air, but I am guessing it will be quite the success.
Shrek the Third opens on May 18, for more on that film click here.
