Cannot wait! Looks great!
So, it is supposed to be funny? I guess I can work with that. Nice action, though. Looking forward to it.
hmmmmmmm……
Looking forward to this very much!!!
Looks pretty kick-ass, definitely not an oscar contender, though.
Man, Robert Downey Jr. is officially the king of accents. Can't wait, I never doubted Guy Ritchie could deliver on the action front and it seems like it's going to be hilarious also. "Madam, beneath this pillow, lies the key to my release". Priceless.
Looks utterly atrocious. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen looks closer to a Sherlock Holmes film than this.
@Carson Dyle: lol atrocious really? you probably take ice cream so seriously if the tip of the cone is half-an-inch too high you probably call for your waitress's head!! atrocious lighten up and have some fun man!! btw it looks F'ing awesome can't wait
WB and Guy Ritchie have done a good job taking the Holmes character and spinning it for a big mainstream audience. Lets face it if they played this character more seriously it would draw a pretty small crowd. It looks like it could turn into a new franchise property for Downey Jr. P.S Rachal McAdams lights up the screen. She deserves to be a household name as she certainly has what it takes.
chuck
It looks very entertaining, and they seemed to have nailed the casting.
i was excited. Now? hmmmmmmmmm not so much
It looks fantastic!!! I can't wait to see this. Robert Downey Jr. does appear to be the man of a thousand voices – god I really love his British accent!!! He is certainly a wonderful and talented actor. I can't wait until Christmas now!!! It just can't come soon enough.
I'm gonna have to quote Eric
hmmmmmm…….
and Carson
doesn't much look like it's doin' Doyle proud
Onl RDJ can save this movie. It reminds me to Wild Wild West.
It does look great, not gonna lie, but this has to be one of the most bastardized, "Hollywood-type" film adaptations in a long while. I mean this honestly seems to have nothing to do with the original stories. I'm sure as hell that Sherlock wasn't a lothario (he didn't even have any romantic trysts in his "career"), nor did he get into silly fights straight out of a Jackie Chan/Chris Tucker film.
But still, this looks like a lot of fun, I'm loving the cast and the director. It'll take a huge misstep for me to not like this film.
Vampires, Naked RDJ, and Jude Law It is a winner
Why, oh why, did they include the supernatural? I like the funny tidbits, and the tying up in bed part (you can always add a new twist to old characters to lighten them up a bit)–but why does it have to be in the cliched supernatural genre?
I guess I must look at the bright side. It will be funny. And it will provide a great sense of entertainment and escape.
regardless of what the trailer looks like (altho I did enjoy it) I think this will be quite good, in my opinion the dirtor does very well with story lines and dialog and fron the trailer it seems there will even be some really good action in this as well, so im excited.
@rachael: intresting what you said about RDJ's british accent, to me he sounded like his usual self, not british at all, i feel that as a british, one the other hand this doesnt looks like a guy ritchie film.
To any British members, does this relationship remind you of Mitchell and Web?
Glad to see it's not an origin story but I'm not sure about the focus on the action, Holmes movies are more mystery drama's.
Wow that looks alot better than I expected
not that i had any reason to doubt RDJ and Guy Ritchie.
Looks more promising than I thought it would be. Obviously it's going to just be a fun movie that's not as serious as the source material. Oh well, I'll see it.
HORRIBLE LOOKING! Doyle would have never approved.Looks like theres no Mystery to solve. A New Rush Hour. RDJ is Satisfactory but not my Choice. BUT Jude Law. Jude Law Sucks has no talent.Bad Chemistry also. Not a Oscar contender, This is a Rotten Tomato Award WINNER ALREADY.
Bad, bad, bad. That bare knuckle boxing scene looks like it's straight from Snatch.
@Carson Dyle: I'm with you on this one. This looks to be a weird mix of modern action film juxopposed against a traditional period piece. It jars. The combination of RDJ and JL has the wrong dynamic. And I'm not feeling RDJ's accent.
is it a parody? and i believe there is a trouble with the british accent!
yeah, i agree with Gaston. very Wild Wild West looking. i mean did they really have to go the supernatural/end of the world route? it makes for lazy storytelling.
why not have Prof. Moriearty doing something dasterdly?
I love what they done with this. and Jude is bringing the sexy. I can't wait for Christmas !
Yea…IM PUMPED.
Moriarty DOES make an appearance… albeit briefly towards the end! Sets up a possible sequel (the producers have openly spoken of their desire for this to be the start of a franchise)…
If there are any Sherlock Holmes fanatics out there (are there? I'm not one personally, though I have read a few of the stories), they'll be furious. It looks pretty farcical, to tell the truth. I can't tell, though, whether it'll be good or bad. But I'm still interested.
I think I would like to see this movie – IF THEY DIDN'T LAUNCH IT AS SHERLOCK HOLMES!!
Obviously it keeps virtually nothing about the original idea of A C Doyle so why bother? Why not just make at a completely new Victorian Era action-comedy without being encumbered by the name Sherlock Holmes which will only generate irritation and anger among fans.
Law and Downey could bring the BO by themselves. I might change my mind but right now it looks like I will spare myself the aggravation of paying to see it on the big screen and perhaps rent it later on DVD on a boring rainy day when I'm in the mood for manflesh.
