'Sherlock Holmes' Reshoot Story is a Lie

It must be annoying for studios now that anything relating to additional shooting on a film is considered a reshoot and immediately speculated by the legions of haters out there. What's even more amazing is people covering movies are so willing to jump to that speculation when the source is The Sun out of the UK who claims to haev a Warner Bros. studio chief referring to Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes as "ridiculously unrealistic" in a report saying Ritchie had been "ordered to re-shoot five weeks worth of scenes" for the film.

Quickly clearing the air The Hollywood Reporter carries a statement from WB saying, "It is not true that Warner Bros. has asked for any reshoots on Sherlock Holmes. The inserts and pickup shots being completed next week, which have long been part of the schedule, do not involve any cast, and are a standard part of filmmaking.

"It is still early in the production process, and the studio has not yet seen the movie. Both Warner Bros. and Guy Ritchie are very pleased with the footage they have seen thus far," the studio statement read.

After reading the gossip at "The Sun" the fact they tried to wedge Madonna's name into the matter pretty much proves its validity.

Sherlock Holmes stars Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Mark Strong and Rachel McAdams and is set for a November 13 release. The film is a unique look at Arthur Conan Doyle's Holmes (Downey Jr.) and his stalwart partner Watson (Law) on their latest challenge. Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country.

Bravo! For all the other sites jumping on this story without any background or fact checks, nicely done for getting it right.

Richie may get his star polished once again by Hollywood if he delivers.

I hope richie doesn't screw this one up. He tends to screw things up sometimes. Rock N Rolla was very entertaining.
