Scorsese Will Tackle France Next?
Helmer moves from NYC to across the pond
Martin Scorsese is eyeing some Oscar loving coming up here in the next few months for his overwhelming successful 2006 feature The Departed, which has amassedat the box-office and is Scorsese's largest box-office success of his career.
So where does he go from here?
Variety is reporting one of his next outings may move overseas to France as he is currently pondering the director's chair for the bigscreen adaptation of Eric Jager's historical tome "The Last Duel: A True Story of Crime, Scandal and Trial by Combat in Medieval France." The book tells the story of a duel that occurred in 1386 between knights Jean de Carrouges and Jacques LeGris. Duel was the last sanctioned by the French government, in this case by a young King Charles IV.
The film will not be his follow-up to Departed as he is currently shooting a Rolling Stones documentary under his four-year first-look deal with Paramount. So stay tuned.
