Schumacher Takes a CROWDED ROOM
Helmer looks to take on a room that has been 'crowded' before...
That headline couldn't be any more appropriate as this news should be taken with a grain of salt as The Crowded Room is a film that has been optioned just about as many times as George W. Bush has mispronounced a word.
The story is of a man with 24 separate personalities based on the book "The Minds of Billy Milligan" and this is not Joel Schumacher's first time trying to bring the film to life, it is his third.
Schumacher tried making it twice with Brad Pitt and once with Billy Crudup while the project was at New Regency and at the same time James Cameron first optioned it in 1998 to direct John Cusack in the lead role, David Fincher tried with Pitt; Steven Soderbergh with Sean Penn; Danny DeVito with Leonardo DiCaprio, on top of that Nick Cassavetes, F. Gary Gray, Gus Van Sant, Matthew McConaughey and Johnny Depp were also in the mix at one time or another.
Whether or not this one will be made is still up in the air, either way there is obvious interest.
