If you thought Sam Jackson was in too many movies before just wait until you get a load of this news as Marvel has announced Jackson has just inked a nine-picture deal with the superhero based studio to appear as Nick Fury, agent of spy outfit S.H.I.E.L.D. Jackson was seen in a brief scene following the credits of Iron Man as Fury, but was supposedly on the outs with Marvel after reportedly being offered a minuscule sum to reprise the role of Fury in upcoming Marvel films. This news, of course, would prove the news false.

The films Jackson will apparently be featured in include Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, The Avengers and any subsequent sequels. Apparently Marvel is also already working on a S.H.I.E.L.D. based feature, which would also call for Jackson's appearance.

Casting for Marvel films, Iron Man 2 specifically, has proven difficult recently as Terrence Howard will be replaced by Don Cheadle, Emily Blunt is having difficulties signing on due to scheduling conflicts, Mickey Rourke is having difficulties with a reported offer of $250k to star in the film and even Gwyneth Paltrow has said she hasn't seen a script or been told anything about when shooting may start.

Of course, you also have news from yesterday out of Marvel's official film blog saying Iron Man 2 will begin principal photography in early April starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle as well as news that Thor will be directed by Kenneth Branagh with a confirmed July 16, 2010 release date.

In all likelihood this is a mixture of growing pains as Marvel shot out of the box with the success of Iron Man in 2008 and an attempt to keep things quiet as it seems things are moving forward as planned on most of the upcoming Marvel projects.

well that's a plot twist no one saw coming after the reported difficulties.

Marvel plans are big, very big.
I really like the idea that they're trying to put all the movies in the same universe, just like the comics, giving opportunities for all sorts of team ups (besides the planned Avengers) or even huge crossovers like Secrect Wars or the Infinity saga's.
It gives them a lot of creative playing room.

On the other hand, this is a lot more difficult in the world of film.
It's very ambitious, I hope not too ambitious.

Heres hoping that he will star in the sequel to Howard The Duck as Nick Fury!
