Salles Helming Coppola's Kerouac Pic?
Long gestating feature may be moving forward.
Variety is reporting that Francis Ford Coppola may be ready to move forward on his long-promised film based on Jack Kerouac's Beat classic "On the Road," with Walter Salles at the helm and Jose Rivera writing the script.
The feature is in development at Focus Features and recounts Kerouac's defining hitchhiking journey across the U.S. with Neal Cassady.
Rivera wrote the screenplay for Salles' highly acclaimed feature The Motorcycle Diaries, which ultimately became one of the highest-grossing Spanish-language films at the U.S. box office.
