Rob Lowe Joins Gervais' 'Side of the Truth'
New comedy is racking up talent
I will stand in line for anything starring Ricky Gervais and I am still upset I have not yet seen "Extras", but I will be sure to see his next film titled This Side of the Truth, which already stars Gervais and the proving to be versatile actress Jennifer Garner. The film now, however, is adding yet another name in the form of Rob Lowe, and with Gervais co-directing with Matt Robinson I can only assume he will tap into the Lowe that made his character in "The West Wing" so good, you know, witty comedy instead of pratfalls and one-liners.
The film is set up with Warner Bros. as the distributer and takes place in a world where everybody tells the truth. Gervais plays a storyteller whose job is to ramble on about the 1300s. Faced with losing his job because his terrain is a boring period in history once he gets beyond the Black Death, he invents lying as a way to save himself. Lowe will play his arch nemesis.
Shooting begins this spring.
