Ridley's 'Nottingham' Getting a Rewrite
Helgeland seems like a decent choice
As Brian Helgeland sets out to rewrite the Russell Crowe starring and Ridley Scott directing Robin Hood story Nottingham I wonder how he is looking at it. Will he mix a little A Knight's Tale with L.A. Confidential? Or maybe Man On Fire meets Payback?
Obviously I am just giving you examples of movies he wrote in an effort to tell you that Brian Helgeland is rewriting the script for Nottingham for Ridley Scott and Universal Pictures. The film stars Crowe as the Sheriff of Nottingham in a scenario that sees him more noble lawman than an evil king's right-hand man and facing off with a more shadier Robin Hood in the Sherwood Forest.
The original script from Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris sold for a pretty penny to Universal a while back and the studio is now hoping to go into production early next year for what would seem a Fall 2008 or early Winter release.
