Ridley Scott's 'Nottingham' Put On Hold
Some upsetting news for the revisionary Robin Hood tale
I look forward to just about everything involving Ridley Scott, so to hear the news that his upcoming Robin Hood revisionary tale Nottingham has been put on hold is a bit of a bummer. The news comes from The Hollywood Reporter, which doesn't have a reason for the film being put on hold as it was expected to power through the waters of a potential actors' strike with production set to begin in August. However, now it is undetermined whether the postponement is just that or if the film has been cancelled outright.
The story was to star Russell Crowe as a sympathetic Sheriff of Nottingham who labors for a corrupt king and engages in a love triangle with Maid Marion and Robin Hood. Sienna Miller was also aboard as Maid Marion.
The film was set to be released by Universal Pictures on November 9, and probably still could should things shake out soon, but that looks unlikely.
