'Resident Evil 3' Suffers 'Extinction'
The third film goes into production this year.
Word just came in from Variety that the third film in the Resident Evil franchise will not be called Afterlife, but Resident Evil: Extinction.
The trade reports that the film is to begin production in 2006 (no specific month or date set) with Milla Jovovich reprising her role as Alice and Russell Mulcahy directing the feature.
It was already reported in The Hollywood Reporter that the film will be set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun with mutant zombies. The story is said to take place in the Nevada desert with the Aussie outback standing in for the American wasteland. In the final reel, the action will shift to Japan, setting up the fourth edition.
There is no word on whether or not the title change was a result of a changed storyline, but I am sure further word is down the pike.
Mulcahy recently helmed Swimming Upstream for MGM Studios.

I used to be a RE Fan. But when I attended to the RE films in theatres I found them lame, disgusting and outta line. That P. Anderson is a VideoGames Sory-shredder. I will never see another film about a famous franchise where he is involved
