Renner Cast for '28 Weeks Later'
Zombie sequel has a lead
Variety reports that Jeremy Renner has landed the lead role in Fox Atomic's 28 Weeks Later, the sequel to the hit zombie horror 28 Days Later.
The story picks up six months after the end of the first pic, in which a virus spreads, leaving few survivors. Special Forces is working to restore order and helping repopulate London when a carrier of the virus unknowingly ignites a reinfection. Renner will play Sgt. Doyle, one of the heroes of the sequel.
Danny Boyle directed the original, which was released in 2003 under Fox Searchlight Pictures. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is directing the sequel, yet Boyle, along with 28 Days Later screenwriter Andrew Garland and Andrew MacDonald will produce the sequel.
