DVD LINKS: DVD NEWS | RELEASE DATES | NEW DVDS | REVIEWS | RSS FEED Zombieland I presume this will be the one film most people rush out to buy, and it is indeed an entertaining movie, but I can't say I am all that interested in revisiting it. The House of the Devil I [...]

Zombieland did even better than my bullish projection, evidence that the time of the horror comedy has come. #1 movie predicted correctly: 1 Week In A Row 1. Zombieland Only alert commenters Nick and John joined in picking Zombieland. The final tally on the most recent R Rated films goes: Inglourious, Final Destination, and Zombieland [...]

#1 movie predicted correctly: 0 Weeks in a Row 1. Zombieland It has a lot going for it. First off, it has the second most theaters (after Fame). It also has 1300 more theaters than any new release. It's got a nice trailer, and Sony has done a solid job promoting it. What could go [...]

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs only fell an estimated 18.8 percent, the 26th smallest drop of all time (of films that opened in at least 3000 theaters). Alert commenters JM and Nick both had Meatballs winning, but even they didn't have it cracking $20m. However, commenter Steve probably was most apt with his "Good [...]

#1 movie predicted correctly: 2 Weeks in a Row 1. Fame I don't think it's a good movie, but I do think it has the most broad based appeal. Step Up 2 The Streets opened at $7600 per theater. I only need this one to do $6000 to pull out the victory. That's half full [...]

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs dominated, as per expected. Only three alert commenters had the film over $30m (Eli, The Checkspot, Anonymous Friend). I was a little low. Only two weekends were measurably worse this year, I'm sure I speak for us all when I say I can't wait for Oscar season to start. [...]

Photo: Warner Bros. / Sony / Fox Steve Mason has published early box-office estimates and while the number one film is no surprise, I must admit I am a bit shocked by one new openers in particular. Sony's Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was expected to finish first for the three-day frame, and after [...]

#1 movie predicted correctly: 1 Week in a Row 1. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs The kids are underserved in the current market, so Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs should cruise to an easy victory. G-Force was the last film in this demo to take a weekend, six weeks ago. Estimate: $25.0 million [...]

Over the past three days a few new trailers have found their way into the RopeofSilicon Trailer Park, but I haven't written up articles about them since I believe most people can find their way over there without me holding their hand. However, some of you may have still missed the opportunity so I bring [...]
