'Red Dawn' is Actually a Live Action 'Team America 2'?
Matt Damon!
In the wake of the news Red Dawn filmmakers were digitally changing the villains in the upcoming remake from Chinese to North Koreans producer Tripp Vinson emailed in to AICN and let loose on you silly daytime television watchin', America hatin', politics discussin' carrot eaters with a rant so juicy you may need an extra piece of bread to sop up all the blood.
I know there is a lot of interest and questions as to the changes announced regarding Red Dawn.
This movie has been rebooted because the filmmakers all love the original movie. The experience of seeing Red Dawn as a young boy in the middle of a Cold War, was life changing for me and a generation. I assure you that everyone involved with the reboot is keenly aware of the responsibility of delivering a movie that can stand eye to eye with the original.
The changes made to Red Dawn in the last few weeks were made in consultation with military think tanks and people that specialize in game theory. Really smart people that spend their days constructing doomsday scenarios for our military and government. The type of people that know the limitations of the North Korean military. The type of people that can project a series of events that could lead to some very scary things happening to our Country. I can assure you, we listened well to those people, especially with regards to the capability of the North Korean military.
Red Dawn isn't for everyone. So, if you are interested in seeing a movie filled with preachy political discussions – Red Dawn ain't for you. If you love movies in which Americans are the bad guys – Red Dawn ain't for you. If you get emotional watching daytime television – Red Dawn ain't for you. If you're a vegetarian – Red Dawn probably ain't for you.
But! If you like meat with your potatoes, muscle cars that roar, tanks, guns and things blowing the fuck up by American's kicking some Commie ass — then we have something special coming your way.
WOLVERINES!
You get all that you tarts?!?

HAHAHAHAHA Matt Damon! Love that movie.
Oh well, sounds like they know what they're making and not taking themselves too seriously, which is probably a good thing.
Hahaha brilliant. Not that I now have any more confidence in the movie.

If you haven't been frozen, Austin Powers-style, since 1983…
On a side note, you do have to love the balls he has to play up flag waving, gung-ho, manly, take-no-sh*t American patriotism in his statement about the changes they're making out of fear of offending Communist China.
I think it's actually fair play to just come out and say what his film is. It's not like it's not blatantly obvious anyway.
I really think that anyone even giving it a cursory glance and bearing in mind the original film wouldn't be expecting anything else anyway.
If you at all think of the world in anything other than basic black/white/good/bad positions then don't waste your time with this film is what he says.
Well, thanks for the update Mr. Producer – but I figured that out for myself a while back.
I think I'd sympathize with him more if he knew how to use apostrophes…
Good to know that military think tanks that "spend their days constructing doomsday scenarios for our military and government" are also spending their time trying to fix hollywood remakes.
What a fucking nightmare.
In a very South Park fashion I must say:
"If you don't like America then you can just GIIEEET OUT!"
I'm growing really concerned about some of the people on your country.
Is he serious with that shit?
"We're American, we'll do whatever we like! Providing it doesn't offend China and the large amounts of money we want from them!" *kisses Chinese feet, begs for money*
I love how they say that they've been consulting with the military, as if they'd actually be told these secrets, and as if the military actually said the idea that North Korea had a better chance of invading America than China wasn't completly stupid.
"Kicking Commie ass"… What is wrong with this man? Tripp Vinson speaks of communism as if it were a violent group that merits to be dealt with extreme violence. Communists aren't KKK or Al Qaeda, they're just people with a different political perspective. I personally don't agree with communism, but I don't agree with our "selective democracy" either. Tripp is just a very stupid man, and I bet you that is going to translate to his movie.
Clearly you don't know what the Soviet Union was…
Amen! God Bless America! Now that China has all our money and jobs, its time to put our bloated, ah sorry elite, peace-keeping, military to work before they invitably invade us.
Thanks for clearing this up. I'll be sure to avoid this movie like the plague, based on this article. Both the writer, and 'Tripp Vinson' need serious psychological help. The attitudes, as expressed by those parties, made me want to vomit. On them. In public. I would suggest the writer find a job more suited to his disposition, perhaps as a drone in the military, or euthanizing small puppies and kittens.
Sorry Tripp, your full of it, everyone knows that
you sold out to China. You just killed what could
have been a hit at the boxoffice. My advice would
be to release two versions of the film. Release the
uncensored version in the US and the north korean
version in China.
