Real or Fake? Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter

I can't tell if I am excited for this movie or not
IMAGE REMOVED AT REQUEST OF DISNEY ENTERPRISES
I just found this image thanks to FilmDrunk as they link to Fangirl Magazine claiming the above image is Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.
Considering Alice in Wonderland is a motion-capture animated film with bits of live-action as well there is a chance this thing may be fake, after all, remember the supposed early test shot of Heath Ledger as The Joker:

Ahhh, those crazy Internets… Real or not, you can guarantee it isn't going to look exactly like that in the actual film. Also, isn't it supposed to be a

I remember hearing that the Mad Hatter was going to be motion capture and was pissed off, but if that's actually Depp as the Mad Hatter I'd rather he be mo cap. This looks fake to me, Depp looks way too young for that picture to be current.
If you ask me, yes, this picture is real. In all the ways, it looks like a photograph, not some computer edition. This image has a "bad" quality. I don“t think this "bad" quality would be simulated by someone, but it is really comon in photos. And all the character clothes, acessories and makeup! Fantastic! Besides, all the composition screams like Tim Burton to me ^^ I really doubt it is a fake^^
Well. I actually like the picture and yes it feels very Burtonesque. But I have to agree and say that he looks too young. Kinda reminds me of Edward Scissorhands. And, is it just me or do the hands look weird? …guess we'll just have to wait and see.
This is fake for sure. whoever made this did a good job, but its definitely fake. It kinda looks like those fake Batman 3 posters….
^ As for you being sure it's "definitely fake," it'd be nice if you'd provide some kind of reasoning, other than that you know everything of course…
As for him looking "too young," he's covered in make up. That's what makeup does, it makes people look young, hello!
This has my vote for real. It's always safer these days on the net to stick with fake just in case it is… then there's no chance of feeling foolish or gullible in the end, but this looks more real than the batman 3 stuff, etc.
The picture is concept art, it is apparantly photoshopped from someone who has seen Depp on set. They have said this is how the mad hatter will look, they were not claiming it was real.
I don't see why age is important when playing a fabled character.
I just hope Depp doesn't pull a Willy Wonka weirdo and goes all out creepy on this one.
The rabbit is most likely supposed to be the March Hare not the White Rabbit. He's traditionally shown as a brown bunny. And is closely associated with the Hatter.
I am hoping this is a photo of a test run of the hatter makeup and clothing. It's really horrible
I also bet his pants are pin striped. Burton seems to have an obsession with pin striped pants.
