'Ratatouille' Helmer Makes Ready His First Live-Action Feature
Brad Bird is ready to work with real people
Brad Bird is finally going to give live-action a go after directing the animated hits The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and most recently Ratatouille.
Word is he will direct 1906 for Warner Bros. and Disney/Pixar. The pic is set with the historical San Francisco earthquake as its backdrop. The story centers on a college student who begins to investigate the murder of his father, uncovering a web of deceit that has left the city vulnerable to the sort of fire that breaks out when the Great Earthquake of 1906 hits San Francisco.
The script was originally penned by John Logan (The Last Samurai, The Aviator, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street) and Bird is currently doing a rewrite.
