'Rambo 5' and 'Bad Boys 3' are In the Works
Things just got real...
I guess I should have held off writing about Halloween 3D earlier as I could have saved it for tonight for a proper sequel roundup as two more found their way into the trades.
First off we have Variety's report saying Nu Image/Millennium Films has greenlit Rambo 5, the franchise's fifth installment, with Sylvester Stallone starring and directing, repeating his duties from 2008's Rambo. The storyline will revolve around Rambo fighting his way through human traffickers and drug lords to rescue a young girl abducted near the U.S.-Mexico border. Production will start in the spring.
This is no real surprise as it was already talked about back in September 2008 following Rambo's $113 million worldwide box-office take on a $50 million budget. While I personally enjoyed the hell out of Stallone's return to the character in 2008, it only scored a 37% at RottenTomtoes.
The other sequel heading into development isn't anywhere as far along as Rambo 5, as The Hollywood Reporter brings news that Columbia Pictures is developing Bad Boys 3 and bringing Peter Craig in to pen the screenplay with hopes director Michael Bay and stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will return for another dose of the highly successful franchise.
The first two films, released in 1995 and 2003, earned $414,746,580 worldwide and featured Smith and Lawrence as Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett as they run around Miami destroying everything in sight all to slow motion and helicopters. While it sounds like I am making fun, I'm not, I love both Bad Boys films… Yes, even the second one… No shame.
What are the chances of getting everyone back in place? THR's Borys Kit writes saying all parties have expressed a willingness to return if a story can be hammered out, but one potential hurdle would be the price to make that happen.

While it would have been nice to see the series finish the way the last film did, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't really looking forward to another Rambo movie. Absolutely loved the last one.
*sigh*
I'm likely to fork over the money to see Rambo though. I can't say the same for Bad Boys 3
seems that Stallone can't find other work except playing the same characters over and over (i.e. Rambo and Rocky)
I can never have another one of these and be very very happy. Not a chance Smith does a third Bad Boys unless he suddenly loses all of his money.
I loved Bad Boys 2, I think it would be great to see a third one, fun action/comedy movies in my opinion.
Smart move for "Rambo 5" (although I loved the last film and thought that it ended on the right note). If "The Expendables" really takes off, this could keep Stallone's momentum going.
As for "Bad Boys"- no. The first movie is ok, but doesn't hold up well in this day and age. The second film is an abomination- The only good thing about "Transformers 2" was that it made me forget how horrible "Bad Boys 2" was.
No shame here, either, Brad; I also liked the second Bad Boys. I'd be glad to return for thirds. Just so long as Michael Bay gives us a Bad Boys movies and not another story-lacking, flat-charactered, ugly-action, army-dick-sucking, CGI-porn toy flick like TF2.
Both r bad ideas. I dont think i ever wanna see a Michael Bay movie again, except maybe on cable tv.
Bad boys 2 was filmed here in Puerto Rico as a stand-in for Cuba, I remember because the pursuit scene trough the slums made the local papers.
Gotta say, rambo 5 could be about him going against the mass destruction instituted by will smith and bad boy co-star martin lawrence. Then they could all share the spotlight and stallone could hype the whole "stallone/smith" thing.
