Puss in Boots Got Fat in the 'Shrek Forever After' Trailer and Poster Premiere
The supposed final chapter
As if we hadn't had enough new trailers this week, Apple has debuted the trailer and the poster for Shrek Forever After, the fourth and final installment in the Shrek franchise due in theaters on May 21, 2010.
On top of that, we also get the first official synopsis which reads as follows:
After challenging an evil dragon, rescuing a beautiful princess and saving your in-laws’ kingdom, what’s an ogre to do? Well, if you’re Shrek, you suddenly wind up a domesticated family man. Instead of scaring villagers away like he used to, a reluctant Shrek now agrees to autograph pitch forks. What’s happened to this ogre’s roar? Longing for the days when he felt like a "real ogre," Shrek is duped into signing a pact with the smooth-talking dealmaker, Rumpelstiltskin. Shrek suddenly finds himself in a twisted, alternate version of Far Far Away, where ogres are hunted, Rumpelstiltskin is king and Shrek and Fiona have never met. Now, it’s up to Shrek to undo all he’s done in the hopes of saving his friends, restoring his world and reclaiming his one True Love.
Check out both the trailer and the poster directly below and get a slightly larger look at the poster as well as the first official still from the film in our gallery right here.

It looks pretty awful.
Not looking good so far. Looks pretty bad actually. They better redeem the shrek series from the awful third one, but i am starting to worry about this one.
I saw it yesterday and it is awesome .. better than 1-2-and 3.
No, its beyond repair now. This looks dreadful.
THANK GOD!! I HATE THIS SERIES!!
If you hate the series that means you've seen all of them. You're contradicting you moron
Jumping to conclusions is much more moronic.
There are a lot of people who watch things they hate. You can see a movie, or even a series, it doesn't mean that you can't hate it. Also, the name-calling? Really immature.
i thought it was funny but didnt really get any signs of plot out of it..
this looks terrible. It's a shame that a series that started as good as this started has turned into a terrible franchise.
As a cat owner this looks very good. I look forward to the DVD release.
I've never understood why studios insist on proclaiming the end of a franchise. If this is the last in the series then that's fine, but why promote it? If the film does insane business they'll look pretty stupid when a fifth Shrek is announced down the line. This series has been a license to print money so wouldn't you want to stay open to more?
It's not that bad. Alt least Austin Powers is back doing 100M+ movies. Besides, who would want this to top 2010? Iron Man's gonna take that.
Another franchise overkill
They had some great trailers come out this week. Like Clash of the Titans, Robin Hood, Iron Man 2, Alice in Wonderland (looks ok), and Hot Tub Time Machine. But this, I was not that impressed by. Ill go see it anyways.
At least there's a semblance of plot in this movie, unlike the last two (the second movie coasted on the humor, which was still fresh at the time. The third movie was a piece of s*** however). Not that the trailer was any good, or remotely entertaining or anything, but the movie has more potential, that's all i'm saying.
Sorry, but when it comes to animation next summer (and probably for the entire year), it starts and ends with Toy Story 3.
toy story sucks
Not a good sign when the high point of the trailer is an adaptation of old Garfield strips…
I don't understand why that would be a bad thing. The only way using old Garfield gags is a detriment to the movie is for the adult viewers. For children though, who have missed the high point of Garfield's comic career, they can truly enjoy those jokes as fresh and comical in Shrek.
It's only a bad thing because it shows that they have no creativity on their own, they have run out of original ideas and have to use other people's material. There's nothing wrong with Garfield, but if children want Garfield, they can have Garfield, there's a lot of Garfield out there.
Why, Why, Why ??? Do they always kill the franchises, about the only decent one is Toy Story but worried about the third installment of that!! I fact we should be ablt to trust Toy Story…I'm no longer worried.
@Joe: It seems you may not know about the "New Beginning" phenomenon. I don't think the studios will be embarrassed with a fifth installment.
Puss in Boots is so sweet. I want to hug his fat body.
me too! lol
I think it looks mad its not easy to make great films that every ones going to love but so far Ive liked all of the shreks and maybe some people dont but I LOVE IT !! I think the final one is going to be as good as the first one if not better. I absolutely love puss and donkey they're great characters and definately complete the film. dont let a short trailer that barely shows anything in the movie and a couple of bad reviews scare into not watching it you never know it might end up being your favourite movie …. :) P.s if you hate it so much heres a hint DONT WATCH IT ! and dont tell other people not to watch just cauz you might not like it because they might..
I agree with you. I have loved all the shreks. And if you reply to either of us and you make fun of us cus we like them then we will ignore you. So dont even reply.
Still I liked it.Puss is so cute and cuddly looking.
i watched it yesterday
it was an awesome movie, better than the other sequels and almost as good as one
i can't believe so many people are calling it dreadful/awful/horrible etc
Did they ever make a puss in boots stuffed animal when he got fat? I cant find one anywhere…
