'Punisher: War Zone' Baddie Looks Like an Evil Muppet
I just can't remember which Muppet he looks like!
Images from Punisher: War Zone have just arrived and inside are 15 new images but I want to focus on two of them, primarily the one featured below of Dominic West (300) as Jigsaw, the film's bad guy. You see, his real name is Billy Russoti and he is a mob boss The Punisher (Ray Stevenson) took down, and as a result he was left "horribly disfigured," at least that's how the official synopsis reads. Based on the images shown I would say he looks fake and stupid and in all honesty I am quite shocked Lionsgate has chosen to screen the film considering their typical decision to keep their films hidden from critics so audiences won't know what they are walking into.
Punisher: War Zone hits theaters on December 5 and Lionsgate is even screening it, here in Seattle, two days in advance. I'll hold out hope it's better than these pics, but if this is how West looks as Jigsaw on screen I am afraid it's going to be awfully distracting. Looking at him in this picture I keep on thinking he looks like a character from "The Muppets," I just can't remember which one.

He looks a whole ton better in the movie than he did in the comics, they really did a great job improving his look. Just look at his first appearance.

Not to mention they didn't give him the ridiculously big eye he's so often pictured with.

@K Love: It's just so fake looking. I am assuming it will be stylized in the film and hopefully look less plastic. He reminds me a lot of Gary Oldman's character in Hannibal.
Well, except Jigsaw has a nose and functioning eyes and not confined to a wheelchair and not a child molester (as far as I know.) :D
Might you give me an example of something more along the lines of what you would hope for?
@K Love: It's not so much that I had an expectation, especially since I know nothing about the Punisher or his villains, I just thought it looked silly is all.
Pic looks fine to me. I've seen a couple of the older pics of Jigsaw that didn't look so great but that pic looks fine. It's a comic book movie and they guy just had his face torn apart and sewn up. Honestly how real was Two-Face in the Dark Knight? All of that money spent on that CGI and while graphically it looked cool it was so unrealisticly overboard…it killed all scenes with him in it for me. At least this film has an excuse with a low budget. The story and the characterizations are what matter here not nitpicking at a still.
I think Jigsaw looks great. I don't know why critics and others have a problem with this movie? I read the Punisher comics and I know how Jigsaw should look. I also wonder why everyone is comparing him to Two-Face and the Joker? It's Pointless. This is the best depiction of the Punisher ever in a movie. Ray Stevenson likes he can from a Punisher MAX cover. As a long time die hard Punisher fan I think this movie looks fantastic! If you don't like it then don't see it.
Jigsaw looks great!
Even though I would have preferred Castle just going up against regular scum during the whole movie, I don't mind ole Jiggy as a main baddie.
I love his Brooklyn accent!
