POSTER: '3:10 to Yuma' Outdoor Art
What exactly is this marketing trying to tell us?
So, Lionsgate debuts the first poster for 3:10 to Yuma (compared below) and while it is definitely cool it hardly reflects the feel of the trailer and from what I have heard it doesn't reflect the actual movie at all. Based on the trailer I am expected a simply hard nosed western pitting good vs. bad. However, based on the poster to the right I am expecting a glossy western in the vein of The Quick and the Dead or god forbid American Outlaws.
So, after getting a cool poster and a cool trailer, neither of which seem to be promoting the same film we get this new piece of artwork (pictured below) that has been described as "Outdoor Art". To be quite honest, it now looks like we are promoting a little kid's animated cartoon. I mean really, is this the new Christmas version? I thought 3:10 to Yuma looked like an Oscar contender, but now I am having a hard time taking it seriously.
I have placed images of both posters side by side and then a larger version of the new one. Give it a click to make it bigger and look for more on 3:10 to Yuma as I am hoping to see it next week.
Based on this poster I am ready to call this Brokeback Mountain II. Just glad I already saw the trailer and know what to expect.

I think this is a really cool piece of artwork. It has a unique style to it. I can't wait for this film.
