Hitting theaters on April Fool's Day

Just after the poster for Source Code arrived online (via Yahoo) director Duncan Jones (Moon) took to Twitter to say, "For those asking… No… Source Code does not take place in an exploding Kinkos." He then added, "Poster works better if you look at it while pressing this button. ;)"

When I first saw this poster I didn't think of an "exploding Kinkos", instead I was reminded of David Fincher's The Game for some reason. I don't know, the puzzle piece style connected for me I guess.

Anyway, it is your rather typical poster for a hopeful blockbuster. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Vera Farmiga, Michelle Monaghan and Jeffrey Wright in a story that features Gyllenhaal as a US soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown commuter and is forced to live and relive a train bombing until he can find the perpetrator.

The film was previously set for an April 15 release, but was recently moved to April 1 opposite a slew of films including Russell Brand's Hop, Oscar Foreign Language nominee Incendies, Darren Bousman's horror remake Mother's Day, the killer tire feature Rubber, David Schwimmer's pedophile feature Trust and IFC's release of the vigilante comedy Super. Fortunately for Summit, Hop is really the only major release of the bunch, which makes it pretty good counter-programming.

Check out the poster below and click here for more on the film including the trailer and a couple of stills from the film.

Brad, when will we be seeing the list of all 2010 films that we can vote on what ones were the best?

  3. Feedback

I was prepared to write a comment about how bad this looks and how much it will suck, but I'm gonna watch it anyway so there's no point.

Having heard from a few script readers that this is among the top few scripts of the past few years, with the director and cast involved I have hope that it is better than this poster.

this poster is awful…still seeing the movie though.

    Director of Moon? Sold.

Duncan Jones and Neill Blompkamp became my favorite directors to emerge out of 2009. I look forward to future work from these guys.
