Roman Polanski has found a film to replace the time he would be using to film the $100 million Pompeii film he was originally aboard to direct until he dropped it after 18 months of prep in September. The new flick is called The Ghost and it is a feature adaptation of the new Robert Harris novel, which hit shelves in October.

Polanksi and Harris are teaming to adapt the novel, which centers on a ghostwriter who is hired to complete the memoirs of a former British prime minister. He uncovers secrets that put his own life in jeopardy.

Harris told Variety that most of the story takes place in an oceanfront house during the middle of winter, which he dubbed "classic Polanski territory."

Polanksi will again be teaming with producers Robert Benmussa and Alain Sarde, whom he worked with on The Pianist and Oliver Twist.
