Prologue #1: A Podcast Revival
Taking a stab at this a second time
Laremy and I have been talking about getting back into the podcasting business for the last three or four months and we finally sat down to put one together, one Skype account to another.
The goal here is to quickly bust through a batch of news stories and weigh in with a few opinions to give you something to listen to for 20-25 minutes. We try to get in and out without much fluff giving two minutes to the majority of news and five minutes to a couple of other topics.
I'll be the first to admit this first one is a little rough as both Laremy and I need to work on our transitions from one topic to the next and learn how to consolidate our thoughts. It's a process. Dumb things will be said when you try to move at a quick clip, such as when I stupidly say Edgar Ramirez may have been too old for the Bourne role. Oops.
Laremy and I will be at Cannes together and are currently planning on doing short audio reports from France in-between seeing films and then maybe daily audio recaps, but for now give this a listen and let us know what you think and be kind… Also, if you have an idea for a title for the podcast fire away, we are taking any and all suggestions. We will also start taking discussion topic ideas and questions from the readers as we move forward, hopefully making this as much of a community podcast as possible.
This week our topics included The Hunger Games, the trailer for The Change-Up (included above), this summer's superhero movies (based on this article), Harry Potter vs. Transformers at the box-office (based on this article), Jeremy Renner being cast in The Bourne Legacy, Terminator 5 talk and ranking the Fast and Furious films.
Like I said, it's a bit of a rough start, but I hope you find something to enjoy. You can listen below or download the audio by right-clicking here and saving it to your computer.
Once we have a title and some consistency we'll add it to iTunes and whatnot, but we don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves.
You can also find Laremy's writing at Film.com.

Loved the podcast and would definitely love to hear them continue. I'm not creative enough with words to come up with a title or anything, but I'll definitely keep listening. Brad you've essentially been my go-to film critic for about six years now so I'm interested in pretty much any opinions you have on movies.
I can't really rank the Fast & Furious films fairly since I haven't seen the second one all the way through, but I'm in the minority in thinking the first one is absolutely terrible. Granted I only first saw it two years ago; I didn't see it when it first came out so I don't have a nostalgic connection to it or anything. Tokyo Drift is tolerable but not great, and the fourth one is actually a pretty decent action film I think. The new one definitely looks more over the top so I'm a little leery, but hopefully it'll be a good time.
I've also been wondering about the whole F&F vs. Transformers issue. I agree with you guys, but also I think that the F&F films don't take themselves all that seriously. Yes they're over-the-top, ridiculous action movies, but that's all they're marketed as. They don't have the self-important egotisicalness of the Transformers films.
Not had a chance to listen to this yet but glad this is back! Used to love the podcasts back on this site a couple years ago and a return is long overdue.
I remember the All Rude Review. NEVER FORGET.
They could have used Edgar Ramirez, seeing as he was in Ultimatum. They should have tried to branch off his character in that.
I have only seen number 1 and number 4 of Fast and Furious, and I thought number 4 was SUUUUPER boring. If that's the second best in the series, I'm good. Fast and Furious 4 was way too much talking and cock teasing.
Also, the problem with Transformers is that there are long scenes of nameless robots beating on each other. Who cares?
Nice podcast, I hope you'll continue this. :)
when are you posting the review for prom not that i'm going to see it i just want to be sure it's as terrible as it looks
