Pixar's 'Up' Presents 'The Adventures with Carl and Russell' #1
No stupid looking glasses required
It's shocking Pixar or any animation studio for that matter would be so bold as to release anything that wasn't in 3D, but Pixar is just the studio to buck the trend as they bring the first short in the animated series "The Adventures with Carl and Russell" in promotion of their upcoming film Up which hits theaters on May 29.
The short features the two stars of Up Carl Fredricksen (Ed Asner) and Russell (Jordan Nagai) in a series of adventures in their new found territory.
Check out the first video below and all apologies for it being in only 2D, I know it is hard to enjoy anything nowadays if it isn't dazzling you visually to distract you from the lack of plot and actual emotional connection.

I'm still wildly horrified about this year's Annies. Dreamworks should really be ashamed to have won.
Hopefully Disney 2-D will return to form with The Princess and the Frog this year, and then animation can get back to its roots.
This obsession with 3D reminds me of that period in the 50's and 60's where, feeling threatened by television, the studios were tossing every gimmick in the book (including 3D) at the screen hoping something would stick. Then, as now, smacks of desperation. Thankfully in the 70's the studios realized all they needed to do to get people's butts back in theaters was make great movies. Hopefully that time will come soon for today's studio executives.
