Pixar's New Short – 'Partly Cloudy' – Gets New Details
Apt name based on the film it precedes
Thanks to SlashFilm we are pointed to The Pixar Blog where they have new details on the upcoming animated short Partly Cloudy, which will be debuting with with the May 29 Pixar/Disney release Up.
The plot description they received comes from a source that has seen Disney's new quarterly magazine Twenty-Three which is part of their new D23 fanclub. The report goes as follows:
Partly Cloudy will elaborate on the age-old story of babies being delivered to their mothers by storks. In the short, clouds are essentially baby factories, where babies are made out of 'fluffy white stuff'. Each cloud has a stork assigned to deliver the babies produced.
Partly Cloudy's protagonist is a cloud named Gus who makes the 'tougher babies' like alligators and porcupines. Peck is Gus' stork who's grown tired of having to deliver all the tough babies and wants to move on to softer ones like kittens and humans. The short's climax is when Gus thinks Peck quit in search of easier deliveries.
Apparently the magazine will feature an image of Gus and Peck as well. D23 launches on March 10 and I even noticed some marketing material inside the upcoming March 10 Blu-ray release of Pinocchio, which I will have my review of up very soon.
Slash also points out a book from Disney Press titled "Partly Cloudy" is up for pre-order at Amazon carrying the following description:
Welcome to the world of clouds, where every cloud creates cute, cuddly babies that get delivered to their families by storks. Every cloud, that is, but Gus. Gus is the littlest cloud and only knows how to make snapping alligators and spiky porcupines. Ouch! For Peck, Gus's stork and best friend, this means the job can be quite painful. But as Peck and Gus soon discover, sometimes all you need is a little teamwork and you can weather anything!
