'Piranha 3-D' Adds Jerry O'Connell and Hopes to Become the 'Jaws' of a New Generation
This one really could be a lot of fun
Entertainment Weekly reports Jerry O'Connell-Romijn-Stamos has joined the cast of Alexandre Aja's Piranha 3-D, a remake of the Joe Dante directed 1978 original in which a tremor causes Arizona’s Lake Havasu floor to open, setting free scores of prehistoric piranhas. O'Connell joins a rather impressive cast considering the kind of film we are talking about including Elisabeth Shue, Adam Scott, Richard Dreyfuss, Ving Rhames and Dina Meyer.
On top of this new bit of casting news MTV is carrying new quote from producer Mark Canton saying, "We realized that with the advent of 3-D that we thought we could make the ultimate Jaws for this generation."
Canton also gets up on his soapbox and tells MTV the B-movie horror will be "transcendent in terms of technology." Whoa! Now that is a quite the aggressive statement considering he doesn't give any details as to why he is saying this. Oh well, I am still excited to see this one. I think it could be a lot of fun.
Filming starts next Monday, May 12, in Lake Havasu, Arizona with Dimension already setting a March 19, 2010 release date.

If they do this right, this could be the fun horror movie we've been waiting for. I haven't had fun in a horror movie since the Screams first came out.
what if while they're filming a tremor causes Arizona’s Lake Havasu floor to open, setting free scores of prehistoric piranhas?
