Featured just above are some pics from the set of Steven Spielberg's War Horse courtesy of Collider. The pics were allegedly taken while filming took place near the village of Meavy, England. The film is based on Michael Morpurgo's novel of the same name, as well as a recent stage adaptation set against the sweeping backdrop of the Great War, and follows the extraordinary friendship between a boy and a horse who are separated but whose fates continue to intertwine over the course of WWI. Walt Disney and DreamWorks Pictures are already set to release the film on August 10, 2011.
Jonathan Liebesman
Heat Vision reports Jonathan Liebesman of the upcoming Battle: Los Angeles has signed a deal to direct Clash of the Titans 2. No cast or premise has been announced, but Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton are expected to return to their roles. Liebesman landed the gig after impressing execs with footage from Battle: Los Angeles. The plan is to actually shoot in 3D this time around, as opposed to the sloppy postproduction conversion seen in the first movie. My question is this: Will the mass public even know that, or will the sour taste left by the first one still remain and prevent them from paying those inflated 3D ticket prices?
According to Risky Business, Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper are set to co-star in an untitled original action-comedy written by Sheldon Turner (Up in the Air). The film is shooting to be an edgy R-rated Lethal Weapon type, focusing on two friends who also happen to be San Francisco cops. Their fathers were also partners on the police force and are forced out of retirement to help their sons with a case. The idea was initially pitched five years ago as Blowback with Dwayne Johnson attached to one of the roles. The casting of Cooper and Reynolds looks like a surefire way to expand the film's demographic past the typical male audience. The ladies should be lining up for this one with those two in the leads, but I'm excited to find out who the dads are going to be. Kurt Russell would be awesome.
David Koechner
Another story from Heat Vision tells us four more actors have been added to the cast of Final Destination 5, joining the previously cast Miles Fisher. David Koechner (you know, "Champ" from Anchorman), Nicholas D'Agosto, P.J. Byrne and Ellen Wroe will be among those attempting to cheat death, which this time around will focus on a group of people who escape the collapse of a city's suspension bridge. Steven Quale, who worked with James Cameron on Aliens of the Deep, will direct with a start date set for September 13 in Vancouver.
Kit also has the news on the casting of Shark Night 3D, from Snakes on a Plane director David Ellis. Sinqua Walls, Chris Carmack, Alyssa Diaz and Joel David Moore (Avatar) are on board for the horror flick, which centers on a group of people who have their vacation turned upside down by (surprise, surprise) shark attacks brought on by a some greedy locals. It sounds like fun, but I can't see it doing any better than the meager return we saw from Piranha 3D. People just don't "get" these movies and seem to always flock to the more "serious" horror movies.
Speaking of horror, genre guru Neil Marshall (The Descent) is set to direct the horror thriller Underground, which focuses on the world of gormet underground supper clubs. According to Deadline's Mike Fleming, the film's protagonist is an ambitious young chef who ventures into the terrifying underbelly of extreme cuisine. I'm assuming this will not be a film for the squeamish. I wonder if it has anything to do with that Food Network show.
Fleming also reports Bruce C. McKenna, who wrote 7 of the 10 episodes of HBO's The Pacific, has been contracted by Warner Bros to write a script for The Battle of Midway. The studio is fast tracking the film about the turning point of WWII, which would reportedly be filmed in 3D and carry a budget of around $200 million. McKenna also served as co-executive producer on The Pacific, which just won about a hundred awards at the Emmys. I personally can't imagine watching a movie like Saving Private Ryan in 3D and honestly think that sounds like an absolute nightmare.

We have even more set pictures today as the Daily Mail delivers a first look at Anne Hathaway on the set of One Day directed by An Education helmer Lone Scherfig. The film is an adaptation of the David Nicholls novel revolving around Dexter(Jim Sturgess) and Emma (Hathaway), who meet for the first time during their graduation in 1988 and proceed to meet one day a year for the next 20 years. The story tracks their lives and loves until they realize they are meant for each other.
Moviehole reports real-life couple Teresa Palmer (The Sorcerer's Apprentice) and Joel Edgerton (The Square) will co-star in the Australian film Say Nothing. The latest project from Blue Tongue films, the company run by Joel and his brother Nash, will focus on a husband and wife who go on an ill-fated holiday in Southeast Asia with her sister and the sister's boyfriend. One site referred to the project as a "younger, sexier Deliverance," and I'd say that sounds about right. Palmer is the Australian native who was recently shortlisted for the main love interest role in Marc Webb's untitled Spider-Man reboot.
Finally, we have a new poster for Secretariat and a new picture of Daniel Radcliffe from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I. You can click on either one for a larger look.

im looking forward to having speilberg back in the cinemas
Me too. It's been too long!
Wow Spielberg sure is a busy guy. Does anyone know when Tintin finished shooting (at least) or whatever? I don't really know what a post-production schedule or shooting schedule is like for a film done in motion-capture, so I don't know how that helps him while he's busy with this other film.
Isn't Tintin in post-production because of the scale of the effects work? But his actual directing actors part is over?
Clash 2 – I have to say not slightly interested at all.
Midway – bring it on but don't throw in some sort of love triangle of the sort which totally ruined Pearl Harbour. It could be a great epic naval flick and that's one I would pay to see with modern effects budgets. As long as it's treated seriously enough.
Final Destination 5 – the horror movie ghoul in me wants to see what they have planned for the bridge stuff so, yeah, I can see me seeing that.
