Parker Tapped for Theron's 'Bottom'
New helmer aboard Theron produced pic
Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don't Cry), was originally set to direct Charlize Theron in the Picturehouse and New Line International release The Ice at the Bottom of the World, but apparently that fell through as Alan Parker is now aboard to helm the picture.
Ice is set in the Chesapeake Bay, where a Navy captain reluctantly retires for health reasons. After years of neglecting his family while at sea, the grizzled veteran throws his dysfunctional family into chaos. Theron will play one of his daughters, who returns home a heroin addict and the single mother of a mixed-race child.
Parker is most recently known for helming Evita and The Life of David Gale back in 2003.
