The Hollywood Reporter brings word Kung Fu Panda co-director John Stevenson is set to helm a feature adaptation of Steven Sherrill's 2000 novel The Minotaur Takes a Cigarette Break for the Gotham Group.

The script was adapted by Mike Jones and tells the story of a Minotaur, a mythological creature — half-man, half-bull — who survived Theseus' attack in the labyrinth and walks among us today. He's a short-order cook in a Midwestern diner not far from his trailer-park home who falls for an epileptic waitress named Kelly.

The film is expected to be live-action with CG elements and apparently shot as a love story, but I can't help but believe there will be plenty of comedy.

Stevenson is currently attached to direct the He-Man adaptation Grayskull for Warner Bros., but other than that his slate is empty as DreamWorks turned to Jennifer Yu Helson to direct Kung Fu Panda 2.
