Owen Wilson is in negotiations to join the cast of Paul Thomas Anderson's Inherent Vice as one of the film's lead characters opposite Joaquin Phoenix who will play P.I. Larry "Doc" Sportello who is hired by an ex-girlfriend to investigate the disappearance of her wealthy lover.
The film is based on Thomas Pynchon's novel of the same name and will co-star Benicio del Toro and Kevin J. O'Connor whose characters in the film have also yet to be confirmed.
Warner Bros. will distribute the pic, which is expected to begin filming this month for a 2014 release.
For Owen Wilson this is another great opportunity along the lines of his starring role in Woody Allen's Oscar-nominated Midnight in Paris. [The Wrap]
