UPDATE: Even more scripts have been added to the list with the latest update including Django Unchained and The Master. Click here for the complete list.

I have got a massive update for you when it comes to screenplays available for download from this year's Oscar race that begins with Tony Kushner's screenplay for Lincoln adapted from Doris Kearns Goodwin's book and Fox Searchlight has made available all four scripts for their award season pictures, which includes The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Hitchcock, The Sessions and Beasts of the Southern Wild.

Another addition is Ava DuVernay's original screenplay for Middle of Nowhere, a low budget film DuVernay wrote and directed on a budget smaller than $500,000 and it is showing serious signs of becoming a major player in this year's Oscar race as it is already lighting up the independent path at the Gotham Awards and as it received four nominations at the Indie Spirit Awards.

The script for Middle of Nowhere was sent to me directly so I offer it to you here as we're talking about a small production that needs some attention to stand out among the big boys in the race and find some traction in the award season conversation.

Beyond that should DuVernay get the Oscar nod she would become the first African American woman with a solo writing credit to be nominated in the Best Original Screenplay category and only the second female African American screenwriter (Suzanne dePasse was the first) to be recognized in 85-year history of the Oscars.

In terms of other additions, Focus has added Tom Stoppard's adaptation of Anna Karenina to their list and Sony Classics added Michael Haneke's screenplay for Amour and Jacques Audiard and Thomas Bidegain's Rust and Bone adapted from Craig Davidson's novella.

This brings the list of scripts available to 19 and I am still waiting on studios such as the Weinstein Co. and Warner Bros. to make available some of their screenplays. I just received screenplays for The Dark Knight Rises and Argo today from WB so I expect those will be online soon and I hope Columbia gets in the mix and makes available Mark Boal's screenplay for Zero Dark Thirty. We'll have to wait and see.

So scroll on down and right click and save any of the following screenplays to your computer and get to reading.

DreamWorks Pictures
AFFRM
Fox Searchlight Pictures
Sony Classics
Lionsgate / Summit / Roadside Attractions
Focus Features
Universal Pictures

Maybe I'm misreading what stat you're saying, but Nora Ephron was nominated three times, Sofia Coppola WON the oscar in 2003, Lisa Chlodenko two years ago, and just last year Bridget O'Connor was nominated. Not a rich history, but women have a better track record in the screenwriting category than direction and it's on a track to only increase with more parity. She would not be the second female screenwriting nominee.

Why would they release a version of the Beasts script with Benh Zeitlin's personal contact info on it? Seems very strange.

Come on, Lionsgate. No Hunger Games? That's the one I had been waiting for.

Anyway, thanks so much for posting this!!
