If I had a name, I would add Kaitlyn Dever from 'Short Term 12'.
What about Nicole Kidman for The Railway Man?
I've heard Shailene Woodley is getting rave reviews and Oscar consideration for her performance in a film out of Sundance called The Spectacular Now, so I'd add her name to the list. Apparently Lawrence's role in Abscam is very miniscule, and if she's nominated for anything, it'll be Serena
Woodley is a lead (and she is phenomenal in the film).
I don't think so. David O. Russell can get more nominations for his cast than Susanne Bier: look at The Fighter (4 nominations, 2 in this category, one for Amy Adams) and Silver Linings Playbook (4 nominations, 1 in this category). And the roles minuscules are ables to get a nomination, look Viola Davis character in Doubt, only appears in two scenes. I'm sure that if David O. Russell count with Jennifer Lawrence for a role, the role has to be important.
What about Marion Cotillard, Mila Kunis or Zoe Saldana for Blood Ties?
Have you seen "Les Liens Du Sang"? Because it's a real showcase for the actors & the fact that these 3 actresses are gorgeous doesn't hurt either.
It's written by James Gray, with a sensational cast that also include Clive Owen, James Caan, Billy Crudup & Mathias S. (from Rust and Bone) & could very well be this year's Argo IMO.
Canet's previous thriller effort, the incredible "Tell no One" received stellar reviews everywhere, making the cut on a lot of top 10 lists & if you saw any of his previous effort, you know that he directs extremely well his actors (Cluzet won the Cesar for best actor with "Tell no One") & I read somewhere that he is the youngest Cesar award winner for best director ever, sa that must mean something.
You shouldn't dismiss them, the cast already looks like a SAG nominee for best ensemble, doesn't it?
There's been good things said about Margo Martindale's performance in August, but I doubt Harvey, if he's going to be making a push for Streep and Roberts, will want the votes split between Roberts and Martindale. Still, she has a potentially Oscar worthy scene at the end of the film.
Also I HIGHLY DOUBT that JLaw will get a supporting actress nom for Russell's latest. Her part seems too small. And besides, I think Adams has a lock on another nomination for that film, not that there can't be multiple noms, but if there's going to be two, then JLaw's performance had better be damn good and she better have a relatively important part.
And if JLaw does get a nom this year, it will be for Leading actress for Serena.
It's bigger than you think she's been filming a lot. I've seen and heard she's filming more than Amy Adams. If they both were nominated, and JLaw had the better performance and the most screentime Adams would win I think.
I've got weird picks for this category. (Btw Diaz? Seriously?)
1. Jennifer Lawrence / American Hustle) 2. Amy Adams / American Hustle) 3. Julia Roberts / August Osage County) 4. Cate Blanchett / Monuments Men) 5. Jennifer Gardner / Dallas Buyers club)
No Oprah Winfrey on either of the Actress lists? She should surely be at least in the top ten?
