Today kicks off DVD season as we begin our roll to the holidays...

A quick note before we get started, Blu-ray.com is reporting "that at least one company will offer a limited number of Blu-ray Disc players for under $200 this holiday season." They do suspect these will be the "door buster" style players that aren't exactly the top-of-the-line and will be sold the day after Thanksgiving to make way for the newer players come December.

Also, I had a mistaken release date back in August when I said How the West was Won (Ultimate Edition) was released on August 26. In fact it hits stores today and I linked to it in the "Even More" section below and the link will take you to the Amazon page with all three versions of the film that are hitting stores today. You can read my original write-up for the release right here or my DVD review here. The Blu-ray edition arrived today and I hope to bring you a paragraph or two about that version very soon.

The Fall
I finally did my first official review of The Fall when I just reviewed the Blu-ray disc version that is out in stores today and like I said in my review, this film is "a piece of art and Blu-ray is the best way to view it." Seriously, you will love the story and you will love the visuals. It's a win-win if you ask me and still one of my favorite films of 2008.

Baby Mama
Universal showered me with the DVD and Blu-ray versions of Baby Mama, but I couldn't bring myself to watch it again. I wasn't particular mean to this movie when I reviewed the theatrical release and gave it a "C". Baby Mama isn't a horrible movie, it is just so vanilla and considering the participation of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler I expected so much more. This film is a rental at best because once you've seen it there is no need to revisit it. I had not excitement to see it a second time and I can't believe you would either.

Cool Hand Luke (Deluxe Edition)
I am still hoping Warner will send over the Blu-ray edition of Cool Hand Luke. I have only seen this flick once, but after recently watching Slap Shot I was reminded once again of just how much fun it is to watch Paul Newman in his younger years. There's a reason Newman is considered one of our best actors and Cool Hand Luke is just one of those reasons.

Kill Bill: Volume One
I just reviewed both Volume 1 and 2 of the Kill Bill Blu-ray releases and basically boiled down to saying it was fun to watch both films again, but Volume 1 is certainly the more enjoyable of the two films. You can read the review right here and don't worry it is pretty short considering these Blu-ray releases are the exact same as their DVD counterparts in every way outside of better video and what I believe to be worse audio. My suggestion is to continue to wait for that ultimate Kill Bill release, it has to make its way to stores some day.
Grey's Anatomy – The Complete Fourth Season
Argh! What an awful, awful, awful, awful season. Watching the fourth season of "Grey's Anatomy" was a painful experience and for any of you that judged Katherine Heigl for not submitting her name for Emmy consideration should be ashamed of yourself. Never before have I witnessed a television series and thought of it as watching people work rather than watching people act. I can't imagine any of these actors believing they were working on a quality project. I have a lot more to say about this season and I have said it, if you click here you can read my complete diatribe.

CSI: Miami – The Complete Sixth Season
I was a bit late on requesting a review copy of "C.S.I.: Miami", which is to say I sent an email Sunday night asking about it. Oops. While I don't particularly believe "C.S.I.: Miami" is a great show and the fifth season was an absolute nightmare to watch I still remain interested only because I find the actual stories that are told entertaining diversions, at least far better than anything "Grey's Anatomy" has to offer.

Forbidden Kingdom (2-Disc Special Edition)
I saved this one for last because it is a terrible movie, but since it is a new release I felt it was worth giving a little more recognition because some of you may be interested. Forbidden Kingdom is nothing more than a kids film and the fight scenes between Jackie Chan and Jet Li are entertaining, but Michael Angarano is so bad in this film you may actually begin to cringe to the point you look like a raisin by the time the film is over. Stay away from this one if you value your sanity.
