Spaced: The Complete Series
I am only three episodes into "Spaced" so I don't really feel comfortable giving you any kind of review of the show, but Domenic should have a full review for us very soon. The show is a BBC comedy series starring the likes of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost and directed by Edgar Wright. For those of you that don't see those names and immediately get interested they are the boys behind Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. For those of you still drawing a blank I can do nothing more but feel sad for you.

Everyone is ranting and raving about how excited they are the complete series is coming to DVD (two seasons worth) and looking at the back of the packaging I can tell you there are plenty of commentaries including guest appearances on the commentaries from Quentin Tarantino, Bill Hader, Diablo Cody, Matt Stone ("South Park"), Kevin Smith and Patton Oswalt. Honestly, do you need more convincing?

After Domenic's review (which I am 99.9% positive it will be raving) I will also try and get my own up (which we all know to be the "official" opinion… just kidding Dom).

The Perfect Storm
One Blu-ray I am upset they didn't send me (I really need to talk to those catalog title PR folks) is The Perfect Storm. I know it is customary to rag on this film, but I actually enjoy watching it as a good way to laze about for a couple of hours. Sure, it's not perfect, but it sure as hell isn't as bad as Twister.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose (Unrated)
Back in July of 2005, as part of the advertising campaign running on the site, Sony sent me a text file telling the supposedly true account of The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Through some weird search engine portal the article titled The Story of 'Emily Rose' became one of the most read articles on the site and it continued to get reads for about the next two years. Finally this film is behind us and it looks like it didn't do nearly as much for Jennifer Carpenter's career as many perceived it may back then. It is good for a couple of scares, but it is strange Sony continues to try and shill it in every single incarnation possible.

The Mummy
I am boiling down the Blu-ray release of The Mummy, The Mummy Returns and The Scorpion King into this one spot because I just can't think of anything more to say after everything I said in my triple disc review. Read that if you want the skinny on these three BD titles. A spoiler tells you I recommend two of them for buying and one of them for frisbee.

Ugh, what a terrible film posing as a good film. I gave this one a "D" when I reviewed it theatrically, but I will let Domenic do the speaking for me here from his DVD review:

This is a movie completely devoid of originality, with nothing to justify its existence. It's corporate filmmaking at its purest, and while the slick product may go down easy enough with the masses, the sickly sweetness will be enough to turn discerning audiences' stomachs.
