Destined for Cannes?

On the Road trailer Kristen StewartI think it's pretty safe to say we're getting close to hearing Walter Salles' On the Road will be playing the Cannes Film Festival as it is still without a distributor but MK2 is doing everything they can to build some buzz as they recently premiered a poster and photos for the film which stars Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley and Kristen Stewart and have now premiered the first trailer via their Facebook page.

The film is an adaptation of Jack Kerouac's landmark novel, "On the Road", and follows the story of Sal Paradise, an aspiring New York writer as he meets Dean Moriarty, a wild and infectiously charismatic ex-con. They hit it off immediately. Determined to avoid the pitfalls of a narrow, prescribed life, Sal hits the road, joining Dean on what evolves into a life-changing physical and emotional odyssey. Thirsting for freedom, they discover the world, the ecstasy of experience, the connectedness of humanity and ultimately themselves.

Among the supporting cast is an impressive list of names including Amy Adams, Tom Sturridge, Alice Braga, Elizabeth Moss, Danny Morgan, Kirsten Dunst and Viggo Mortensen.

Nice article Brad. It doesn't really interest me though. I think that was Terence Howard and he wasn't in the cast list.

I'll admit, that looks really good. I've had high hopes for this for while. Admiditely, Stewart looks really good here, which is ironic, cause her only OTHER good film was "Into The Wild", another road movie. The supporting cast, ESPECIALLY Mortenson looks great. This one could be FANTASTIC

I am excited for this, it looks much better then I expected. I just can't stand Kristen Stewart, I try, I just can't do it. But luckily this looks good enough that it won't matter if she is in it.

I am trying man, this might be the turning point! God knows we need a deeper talent pool in film right now. I am optimistic!

Ditto. And she was just as apathetic and schlumpy in Adventureland.

      *forcedexhalechewlowerlipanybodygotanyweed?*

That she doesn't even get a line in the Snow White & The Huntsman trailer doesn't bode well for that either, and yet as a ten year old in Panic Room she put in a very creditable performance.

I will be watching this regardless, as Amy Adams doesn't make bad movies!

  4. Mason Williamson says:

I'm actually about halfway through the book right now - I hadn't even heard about the adaptation, actually - and it's phenomenal. Thankfully, the trailer is actually very promising. I'm excited to see what they can do with it.

  5. Tess says:

Wish they had included more dialog (aside from the narration) in the trailer, but I the vibe they created with the editing here. Spot in with the story.

And I agree with a previous comment. Garret Hedlund looks strong!
