The White House is Under Attack in New 'Olympus Has Fallen' TV Spot

What kind of expectations should we have?

I'm half looking forward to Olympus Has Fallen and half-nervous it's going to be a ridiculous mess. I like the fact it's rated R because that means FilmDistrict hasn't handcuffed director Antoine Fuqua, such as was the case when Touchstone pulled the rug out from under him in the middle of directing King Arthur. Yet, Fuqua's filmography doesn't exactly stand out, otherwise, as a helmer that's going to deliver each time out. I'm as much a fan of Training Day as everyone else, but it's time to deliver something else worth talking about.

Now we have a new trailer for the upcoming "White House under seige" picture starring Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman. Give it a look and let me know what kind of film you think we're in for.

Olympus Has Fallen hits theaters on March 22.

When the White House (Secret Service Code: "Olympus") is captured by a terrorist mastermind and the President is kidnapped, disgraced former Presidential guard Mike Banning finds himself trapped within the building. As our national security team scrambles to respond, they are forced to rely on Banning's inside knowledge to help retake the White House, save the President, and avert an even bigger disaster.

I think we're generally looking at Air Force One remade and set inside the White House instead (with some corny dead First Lady guilt between Prez and Security guy thrown in).

Except even dumber all round (nothing against AFO I actually find it entertaining but 16 years ago and basically Butler is no Harrison Ford) and with some very cheap looking CGI.

I suspect Emmerich will probably make the 'better' of the two coming White House thrillers, based on the marketing for OHF so far. If I ever went to see this I would probably set my expectations at post 'A Good Day to Die Hard' low levels really. On the other hand it could also end up the first perfect empty calorie junk flick of the year.

    Who knows.

Actually...........come to think on it more...........this is two Wolfgang Petersen films mashed up. Air Force One and In The Line of Fire. I must have been sleepy to not see that sooner.
