Two Red Riding Hood movies in two months

The Weinstein Co. will be releasing Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil on April 29 making for the second month in a row in which Red Riding Hood will play a part at the box-office.

In this particular feature, teen Red Riding Hood (Hayden Panettiere) will be training in a distant land with a mysterious, covert group called the Sister Hoods. When Red, Wolf (Patrick Warburton) and his over-caffeinated little partner, Twitchy (Cory Edwards), get called upon by Nicky Flippers (David Ogden Stiers) the head of the Happily Ever After Agency over to investigate the disappearance of Hansel (Bill Hader) and Gretel (Amy Poehler).

Today I received the official poster for the film as well as four character posters, all of which can be seen directly below or in the RopeofSilicon gallery right here.

Personally I wasn't much of a fan of the first film and don't expect much from the second, but it can't be any worse than Warner's Red Riding Hood, which I am still trying to wrap my head around after seeing it last night.

Does anyone even REMEMBER the first one!? Even the kids who saw it 5 years ago will either have
    a) Reached the stage where they think it looks stupid or,
    b) Have completely forgotten it existed

I remember the first one! I recently bought it on Blu-ray too! I'm looking forward to the second, mainly because Weinstein finally stopped pushing it back.

I remember the first film as well. I totally dug it, even though the animation was lacking and really only two of the four segments of the film worked.

This film doesn't look offensively bad or anything, just forgettable. If it had come out in 2007 or 08, then I could see it getting a decent turnaround, but over 5 years later? Nuh uh. Then again, Cats & Dogs 2 still made about 40% of what the original film did, some 9 years after the first film released.

I have some small affection for the first one, based on it far exceeding my extremely low expectations after my young niece selected it from On Demand. It has all the hallmarks of something low budget, churned out to cash in on the earlier part of the computer animation craze. But while it seems like the producers never really gave a crap with lackluster character design and dated animation (even in the original's time), the writers and voice actors seemed to take the opportunity to have fun with it.
