'O.C.' Creator Set to Remake 'Bright Lights, Big City'

This sounds about right...

I remember back in 1988 when Bright Lights, Big City was set to come out and I wanted to see it so bad, but alas I was only 11-years-old and my mom was not one to take me to an R-rated film. So, here it is 21 years later and I have still never seen the Michael J. Fox starrer and it is getting ready for a remake as the creator of "The O.C.", Josh Schwartz, will make his feature directorial debut with a remake of the '88 film based on the novel by Jay McInerney.

The novel revolves around a disillusioned magazine writer who numbs the pain of a failed marriage and writer's block with drugs, alcohol and nightly carousing. Along with Michael J. Fox, the original film also starred Kiefer Sutherland, Phoebe Cates and Dianne Wiest and as I see now, it will be on TMC on April 10 at 11:30 AM… perhaps I will have to remind the DVR to pick it up.

On top of "The O.C." Schwartz is also behind the hit shows "Gossip Girl" and "Chuck" and is also writing the script for X-Men: First Class and a "Gossip Girl" spin-off series titled "Lily" which is expected to star Brittany Snow.
